Cropping tools
The following tools are available to the users:
Manually cropping an image by dragging theĀ handles that appear on theĀ cornersĀ of theĀ image
Inputting custom dimensions
Locking aspect ratio
Resizing dimensions of the crop output
Selecting one of the global presets or site presets (configurable in the āPortal config managerā section of the āSettingsā)
Preparing several crop with the use of focus point

Resetting the changes and starting over
If an image is too small to make one or several corporate crops, the unavailable corporate presets will be greyed out.
Presets
In order to quickly make a crop of desired proportion (based on the aspect ratio) or desired size (measured in pixels), the user can select one of the pre-configured presets available on the right side.
Global presets
Global presets are available for all instances of the currently installed Media Manager. There can be global presets both based on aspect ratio and pixel size.
Site presets
Site presets are configured only for the current instance of Media Manager. There can be site presets both based on aspect ratio and pixel size.
Using a focus point
In order to create several automated crops at once with the use of a single focus point, the user needs to click on the āFocus pointā button located above and to the right of the asset preview. This will trigger further instructions.
The user can select which ones from the available presets should be used to create crops. All presets based on the aspect ratio can be selected, both from the global presets and site presets. Then, upon specifying a focus point, the crops will be created and placed in separate tabs.
The user can now preview and edit each of the newly created crops.
When the user is satisfied with the results, they can select āCropā to create a single crop from the active tab or āCrop Allā to create all the crops at once.
Saving crops
After clicking āCropā, the user is presented with three distinct, role-based options.
The user can:
create a new asset which will be displayed in the āRelatedā panel next to the original asset, under āCropsā ('Save as related crop')
create a revision, i.e. a new asset, which will replace the original asset and the original asset will then appear in āAsset Historyā ('Replace latest version')
send the crop via link to e-mail ('Share link to crop by email').
Crop and resize
Another functionality of the crop tool is the ability to crop and resize an asset. This means that the user can set output dimensions of the crop. In order to specify these dimensions, the user needs to toggle āResize dimensionsā switch.
It is possible to input any dimensions that the user wishes.Ā
When the user selects one of the standard or corporate presets, the switch will automatically engage.
It is recommended to also turn on āLock dimensionsā switch in order to maintain the desired aspect ratio when adjusting the crop area.
Crop name
The crops which are created as new assets related to the original asset will appear in the tabĀ āRelated assetsā.Ā They are presented in a table form with two available columns: the title derived from the original asset and the crop name based on the type of the crop.
Video trim
Media Manager 5 offers the ability to trim videos.Ā The user can access the trim function by clicking āTrimā in the actions menu in the asset preview mode.
The user can do the following:
manually trim the video by dragging the edges of the clip,
input the start and end point of the new trim,
lock trim selection.
After clicking āTrimā, the user is presented with two options. The user can:
create a new asset which will be displayed in the āRelatedā panel next to the original asset, under āTrimsā
create a revision, i.e. a new asset, which will replace the original asset and the original asset will then appear in āAsset Historyā
send the trim to e-mail.
