DC 5.9 - Catalog folders

The catalog folders available only for grouping assets in the old backend administration UI will be officially deprecated with 5.9.0.

There are multiple folder concepts in Digizuite

• Catalog folders

• Channel folders

• Metadata tree structures

• Virtual folders

And maintaining all is not possible.

For that reason the Catalog folder concept is officially deprecated with 5.9.0 and will be entirely removed with version 6.0.

As there are so many alternatives to catalog folders, then no additional code will be written to otherwise support the catalog folders.

With the latest breaking change on catalog folders, they are just a logical grouping of assets and this can be achieved with both channel folder and metadata structure.
