MM5.7 Creating spaces, applying styles, adjusting settings
The page layout for each portal, space, or folder is configurable.
Only users with the role 'Can_view_portals' will see the customised pages, all others will see the standard Media Manager layout and styles.
To make these layout changes, first navigate to the given page and click the ‘Edit page layout’ on the top right of your screen.
From the flyout, you’ll see that a number of settings can be adjusted:
Portal Style – It is possible to select any brand portal style that already exists. For creating and modifying portal styles, see here.
Show hero banner – When ‘Show hero banner’ is selected, a large image placeholder at the top of the page is displayed. This is the hero banner space.
Customizing the hero banner:
Select an image (required)
Enter a title and a subtitle (optional)
Enter a link and choose if the link should open in a new tab (optional)
To change the color of the text and text background, enable ‘Use custom color'
Click the color circle to pick your own color
Tip: You can make the text background semi-transparent by changing the value of the Alpha channel. If you would like to remove the text background completely, set the Alpha channel to 0.
Note! To allow the responsive design to work on both desktops and mobile devices text should always be added as a title and never directly as a part of the image. On smaller devices the text can easily end up truncated. More info can be found in the hero banner guide.
Cover layout on folders – For more appealing design, users can add images to folders. Also, if a folder contains company logos in many variations, then the logo could be added as the folder image.
When this setting is enabled, users can assign a cover image to each folder by clicking on the image icon that appears on the folder.
Hide folder title - In a few cases – when the folder images say everything – it is possible to hide the title that overlays the cover image.
Note! This is for all folders on the page.
Hide filter panel - To improve the design of spaces where there are a limited number of assets, hide the the filter panel on the left. (Side note: Consider the user experience in cases where there are many assets.)
Hide assets - The folders (or subspaces) are always listed before the assets. In cases where there is a clear information hierarchy with folders only containing folders, users can polish the design by hiding the list of assets. When the list is shown, then assets in the current folder and all subfolders are listed.
Folder management
When in brand portal edit mode, users can create, rename and reorder folder.
