Image crop

Media Manager 5 offers the ability to crop images. The user can access the advanced crop function either by clicking "Crop" in the actions menu in the asset preview mode, or the symbol  in the upper right corner of the screen in focused preview mode.

The user can do the following:

• Manually crop an image by dragging the the cropping handles that appear on the corners of the image
• Input custom dimensions
• Lock aspect ratio
• Resize dimensions of the crop output
• Select one of the customizable corporate presets or standard presets
• Reset the changes and start over.

If an image is too small to make one or several corporate crops, the unavailable corporate presets will be greyed out.

After clicking "Crop", the user is presented with three distinct, role-based options. The user can:

• create a new asset which will be displayed in the "Related" panel next to the original asset, under "Crops",
• create a revision, i.e. a new asset, which will replace the original asset (the original asset will then appear in "Asset History"),
• send the crop to e-mail.

Crop and resize

Another functionality of the crop tool is the ability to crop and resize an asset. This means that the user can set output dimensions of the crop. In order to specify these dimensions, the user needs to toggle "Resize dimensions" switch.

It is possible to input any dimensions that the user wishes. 

When the user selects one of the standard or corporate presets, the switch will automatically engage.

It is recommended to also turn on "Lock dimensions" switch in order to maintain the desired aspect ratio when adjusting the crop area.

Crop name

The crops which are created as new assets related to the original asset will appear in the tab Related assets. They are presented in a table form with two available columns: the title derived from the original asset and the crop name based on the type of the crop.

Video trim

Media Manager 5 offers the ability to trim videos. The user can access the trim function by clicking "Trim" in the actions menu in the asset preview mode.

The user can do the following:

• manually trim the video by dragging the edges of the clip,
• input the start and end point of the new trim,
• lock trim selection.

After clicking "Trim", the user is presented with two options. The user can:

• create a new asset which will be displayed in the "Related" panel next to the original asset, under "Trims",
• create a revision, i.e. a new asset, which will replace the original asset (the original asset will then appear in "Asset History"),
• send the trim to e-mail.

Share trimmed/cropped asset

The previous two sections explain how to trim and crop. After the new asset has been created, it should have the same 'Availability' options as the original asset from which the new asset was trimmed or cropped from.

The new asset can be shared with others in different ways:

• Share the URL pointing to the new asset
• Share the asset compressed in a zip file and sent to certain members and emails
• Share the asset with social media
• Share the asset in a new collection, restricted to selected member and emails 
• Share the asset with an existing collection
