Digizuite™ DAM for Sitecore is developed and tested with the following versions of Sitecore:

  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.0 Update 1 (Sitecore 8.0 rev. 160115)
  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.1 Update 3 (Sitecore 8.1 rev. 160302)
  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.2 Update 3 (Sitecore 8.2 rev. 170407)
  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.2 Update 4 (Sitecore 8.2 rev. 170614)
  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.2 Update 5 (Sitecore 8.2 rev. 170728)
  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.2 Update 6 (Sitecore 8.2 rev. 171121 )

The following versions of Sitecore are supported - but special actions need to be taken in order for the module to function optimally:

  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.2 Initial Release (Sitecore 8.2 rev. 160729)
  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.2 Update 1 (Sitecore 8.2 rev. 161115)
  • Sitecore Experience Platform 8.2 Update 2 (Sitecore 8.2 rev. 161221)

1.2 Requirements, files and folders

Before installing, ensure the user that is installing has modify access to the following folders and files in the Sitecore web root:

  • Sitecore 8.x
  • \App_Config\include
  • \App_Data\
  • \bin\
  • \sitecore\shell\client
  • \Sitecore modules\shell\

1.3 Requirements

NB

If your DC is older than 4.7.0 (not including 4.7.0) you need to stop the installation, and get in touch with your contact person at Digizuite.

You also need to verify the following before running the module:

  • Digizuite™ DAM for Sitecore (DFS) stores a cached version of all image assets locally. In order to do this, DFS needs  write access to the \App_Data\ folder. Sitecore installations have write access to this folder by default.
  • If you use Telerik RTE and/or reference the Telerik.Web.Ui dll in any of the Sitecore site, then contact Digizuite for a custom build of the DAM For Sitecore package.

1.4 Choose the right package

DFS is delivered with 2 packages. If your Sitecore installation only runs solr and all lucene configuration has been disabled, choose the solr package. Otherwise choose lucene package.

  1. DAM for Sitecore Lucene X.X.X.zip (Where the X'es are version numbers)
    1. If you choose this package the configuration file named Sitecore.ContentSearch.Lucene.DefaultIndexConfiguration.config located in Sitecore Website folder \App_Config\include needs to be enabled. You verify that it is enabled by looking at the file's extension. If it says .example or .disabled. it is disabled. Simply delete the .example or .disabled from the file. Even if the Sitecore installation is running Solr as the default search engine, this still has to be done.

  2. DAM for Sitecore Solr X.X.X.zip (Where the X'es are version numbers)

1.5 Installation

DFS is installed in the same way as any other Sitecore package. Here are the steps on how to do it:

  • Open Sitecore as an administrator
  • Navigate to the Desktop mode (see image below)

  • Find the Install Wizard under Development Tools

  • Click on Upload Package and find the file containing the DAM for Sitecore zip file delivered by your Digizuite supplier.

  • You now have to press next a couple of times.

  • Press Install to continue
  • If you're asked to overwrite some files (See the image below), it is because you have older versions of DFS installed on your Sitecore already. If you're got seeing the below images, please skip down to the image that matches what you're seeing in your active installation.

Important

If you get one or both of the below messages, please be aware of the following:

Continuing this guide will delete all data that you have not backed up. In order to prepare yourself for an update, you have to read the update guide (This is the update guide for DFS 8.1.0 - I: Update guide)

All assets you have used through DFS previously, will not be available externally after updating, if you have not serialized your silos.

Continuing on from here without understanding these consequences, will most likely have you re-embed all assets again. If you are still not certain, please contact your Digizuite contact person for a more detailed explanation.

  • If you've already been told by your Digizuite contact person, that it is okay to continue the update, then please continue the installation by either pressing Yes to all. This will overwrite the old versions of DFS's files and delete all silos.

  • In the following light box, tick off Overwrite (as in the image below) and press Apply to all.

  • Finally, tick off the option to restart the Sitecore and press Close:

The DFS plugin has now successfully been installed. However, there are still some steps to go, before the plugin is fully functional.
