AĀ search is what is used for (almost) all data extraction in theĀ DAM Center and related products.Ā
AĀ search can be equated to an extremely flexibleĀ API, in that theĀ FiltersĀ of aĀ search define what parameters are supplied and how those parameters are used toĀ filter out results; theĀ Value FieldsĀ of a search define whatĀ data is returned
The Search EditorĀ is the part of theĀ DAM Center, which is used to edit any search.
The Search Editor can be found by
LocatingĀ System tools.
Expanding theĀ Config Manager.
Choosing aĀ product.
Choosing a product version.
Selecting the "Searches" tab (or something similar depending on the selected language).
- Selecting aĀ search.
The documentation includes
- aĀ Glossary, which defines the terms used in theĀ Search EditorĀ and gives examples.
- Understanding the UI elements, which describe the UI's partitioning and some design decisions
- Rows in the grid
- Columns in the grids.
- How-to guides
- Guides, which guides the reader through very basic functionality.
- Use cases, which puts the use of the Search Editor into a wider context.
Reading guide
The suggested way of approaching these documentation pages is to first get acquainted with the UI elements;Ā then trying to perform the examples in the Guides.Ā finally reading the Use cases to put the gathered knowledge into a wider perspective.Ā All the while revisiting theĀ GlossaryĀ when/if there is any confusion/doubts.
MUST, SHOULD
The keywords "MUST", "MUST NOT", "REQUIRED", "SHALL NOT", "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED", "MAY", and "OPTIONAL" in these pages are to be interpreted as described inĀ RFC 2119.
