DC 5.9 Additional Features

Metadata

Selecting an asset from the Catalog area or Channels area, loads the metadata editor in the right side of the screen. From the metadata editor it is possible to change the metadata information for one or more assets at the same time (multi-metadata editing).

Note: If the metadata editor is not opened, you have to press on the right bar with the Editor label on top (see the image below).

Note: Metadata available corresponds to the selected asset type - only relevant tabs are displayed for images, videos, documents etc.Ā

Metadata fields with high relevance for any type of assets, e.g. title, description and keywords, are displayed on the All asset types tab. Other metadata tabs, which is specific to the selected asset type, e.g. EXIF for images, are placed on a separate tab, below the All asset types tab.

The EXIF tab contains standard exif metadata equal to exif data displayed in third party products such as Adobe Photoshop. Exif is a conventional metadata standard which is automatically imported into the Digizuiteā„¢ DAM Center. The amount of data being shown varies in accordance with the amount of embedded metadata in the source file uploaded to the Digizuiteā„¢ DAM Center.

Note: Hold SHIFT or CTRL to select and enable multi-editing mode to edit several assets at once.

Note: Metadata can be updated individually for each language. To update metadata on a different language click the language button in the bottom of the metadata editor. Remember to click Submit before switching tabs or selecting other assets, otherwise changes will be lost.

Users/User groups

To create a new user or user group, e.g. the Digizuiteā„¢ Media Manager, navigate to System tools ā†’ Ā Users and Groups ā†’Ā Ā Users

If you want to add a new user, simply press on the Add button.

Ā Once created, select the new user and make sure the Approved box is checked in the metadata editor to the right. From the metadata editor it is also possible to specify a new password, the default system language, as well as the metadata language. If no language is selected, the Digizuiteā„¢ DAM Center's default language will be used.

It is recommended to always keep users related to at least one group. This provides for much easier Asset SecurityĀ Management as well as a better and more structured view of users and their respective groups.

Navigate to System tools ā†’ Ā Users and Groups ā†’Ā Ā GroupsĀ and add new groups as desired, by pressing the Add button.

Once created, select the created group and add users from the metadata editor available on the right side of the screen.

Users and groups are now created. Repeat steps as necessary to make sure users and groups are up to date.

Note: Adding a user to a group also grants access to folders and content specified for that particular group, hence making it easier to manage groups over time rather than individual users.
