DFO 3.0.0 - 3 The search function

In the DAM for Optimizely the editor can access a range of tools which help with finding the right asset to use on the page:

  • free-text search
  • filtering based on asset type
  • filtering based on crop type
  • sorting.

3.1 Free-text search

The free-text search box is located in the DAM for Optimizely connector right above the folder structure. In order to initiate the search, the editor needs to click on the search field and then begin typing the search phrase. The results will appear in real time as the user continues typing.

The free-text search is executed across all the Digizuite assets available on the Optimizely channel. In other words, it is not limited to the folder(s) highlighted at the moment of performing the search.

In order to clear the search results the editor needs to click the "x" on the right side of the search box.

3.2 Filters

The editor can narrow down the available assets with two different filter types. The filters are located between the folders and the asset list. The filters are applied locally, i.e. they are limited to the highlighed folder(s). In order to select multiple folders at once, the editor has to click on all the folders that should be in the selection pool while holding "Ctrl" key on the keyboard.

The filters can be applied on their own, both at once or together with the free-text search to further fine-tune the results.

The first available filter is based on asset type. It is possible to select multiple asset types at the same type.

The other filter allows the editor to search for assets that are only a certain aspect-based crop: square, photo, widescreen or banner. Thanks to this the editor can easily choose from the correct pool of assets when, for example, a specific content block requires the use of an image in a banner format. It is only possible to select one crop type at a time.

3.3 Sorting

The editor can choose in which order the assets are displayed, based either on upload date, title or asset type. There are four possibilities available:

  • Date Ascending (oldest first),
  • Date Descending (newest first),
  • Alphabetic Ascending (from A to Z),
  • Alphabetic Descending (from Z to A),
  • Asset Type Ascending,
  • Asset Type Descending.

Default sorting can be configured in DAM → System Tools → ConfigManager → Episerver → Default → Config parameters → Default sorting
