DFE 2.1.0 - 6 Using assets
6.1 Drag & drop assets
The assets can be used on the pages in the same way as the Episerver editor is used to. The simplest method is dragging the asset from the asset list and dropping it either into the general content area or in a specific content block.
The assets can also be added to the page from block editiing mode. The drag & drop procedure is the same, with the exception of having to drag the asset into a specific area rather than a page.
Sometimes the block is defined by the developer to only accept certain type of content, e.g. only images in banner format. Dragging the wrong type of content will result in an error. In order to find the right content the editor can filter by crop type.
6.2 Media format selector
When the editor drags an image into a text field that doesn't have pre-defined limitations for the content, the system uses the original, full-size image. The editor can then change the format that will be displayed on the page. In order to do this, click the image, and then select "Digizuite media type selector" in the options at the top of the text field.
A new window will open with different qualities available for the image.
The editor can then choose one of the options. This process can be repeated for each individual image in the text field.
If you expirence that the Digizuite media type selector button is not presented in your TinyMCE, then read this guide DFE 2.0.0 - Missing "Digizuite media type selector" button in TinyMCE
6.3 Dynamic content
An Episerver developer can configure a content block to automatically accept content based on metadata-related criteria. The content of the block will be added or removed dynamically when the metadata is changed.
This is an example of a block with dynamic content:
In this specific example all the editor needs to do is to select the folders from which the assets should be pulled, and then specify the selection criteria. In this case all the assets from one selected folder with "Approved" status will be inserted in JPG medium media format. If anyone changes the status of the assets in this folder when working with the Media Manager, the changes will automatically be reflected on the Episerver page.
