The way to change your password has changed
The way you change password inside the DC has changed a bit.
How to access it
Go to System tools → Users and groups → Users and choose any user. Then open the editor at the right. In the bottom of that page, you will see a button that you have to press to change passwords.
How to configure it
The password input field has been removed. In order to change password, you have to click the button Change password. If the user who is logged in has the role Editor_SystemTools_UserManager_User, he or she will be able to change any user's password without entering the existing password first.
UI for old profiles and destinations is removed
The functionality stays but the UI is removed. Guide and further explanation can be found here:
The installer will now install most external requirements
By using the Digizuite™ DAM Center installer, most of the old requirements that you had to manually configure (IIS roles and features - and programs) are not needed anymore. The only things you now need that are hard requirements when installing (NOT updating) are:
- User's created successfully, and given access to the correct folders/UNC paths.
- .NET 4.6.2
- Fully updated Windows (especially updates regarding .NET 4.6.2)
- That your server has been restarted at least once after installing and updating both Windows Updates and .NET 4.6.2.
How to access it
You do not have to do anything more than the four steps above, for an installation to go through. Of course there are many other things that should be done, for an installation to function properly, but a lot of the manual labor that you'd have to do each time you should install has now been included in the installation program.
How it works
It makes certain that the system has all the required prerequisites in place when installing. It'll configure and install the required things in order to make certain that the DC works.
How to configure it
You do not have to do any configuration
New Search Editor (Search2)
Search2 has gotten a new, more user friendly UI. The new Search Editor is a replacement for the XML text area, which was previously used to edit and/or create searches. The XML definition of a search has been completely black boxed, in that a user no longer sees the XML. Instead the XML is parsed and displayed in a more user friendly manner.
The "user friendly" part of the new UI is that several choices are made for the user, for example the order of filters, which is now programmatically calculated; it is impossible to make mistakes with regard to "valueHandler"-"renderType" combinations, etc. The only times where a user is forced to input text is for a filter/value field's ID and any "predetermined values".
How to access it
1. Go to DAM Center.
2. Expand the System Tools tab in the left navigation bar.
3. Expand Config Manager.
4. Select the desired product version.
5. Click the Searches tab.
6. Select a search.
How it works
Parses a given search into a UI, which helps the user perform edits to the search.
How to configure it
Simply works Out Of the Box.
New Search documentation (Search2)
The new Search Editor comes with updated documentation, which guides the user through the use of the new Search Editor as well as defining various terms such as "valueHandler" and all of its allowed values.
How to access it
1. Go to the confluence site
2. Go to the Documentation space
3. Expand Digizuite™ DAM Center
4. Expand Digizuite™ DAM Center v4.7.0
5. Expand Configuration Guides - Digizuite™ DAM Center v4.7.0
6. Click on Draft - Search Editor - DAM v4.7.0. The pages contained within this section is the new documentation
How it works
The documentation guides the user through the new Search Editor. It also defines terms such as "valueHandler" and "renderType" and gives thorough explanations of all available values and the impact of choosing the various values.
How to configure it
No configuration is needed.
Better out of the box experience for new installations
When you install (note update) a new version of the DAM Center, it'll now include our best practices setup, instead of the old legacy standard configuration. In the new version of DC, you'll have the following new functions (Including; but not limited to):
- 4 new predefined user types, that you can use both within and/or outside of your company. All of these user types have been created with the mindset of: "what user types would best help most companies successfully maintain rights and functions both internally and externally".
- An entirely new way to access and handle your assets, by utilizing the power of our Digizuite™ Media Manager to keep track of which assets are available, how much access the different user types have, and on which products they have it.
- New formats that will hit a big target audience.
- New ways of utilizing left side content menu
- And a lot more.
How to access it
The OOBE (Out of the Box Experience) information pamphlet contains all the information required for having an overview about all the new features and functionalities.
Manage Digizuite™ Office Connector clients
You can view office clients that has connected through office connector plugin and from the UI, you can delete clients. This feature is useful when the office license is limited and not unlimited users.
How to access it
System tools → License → Digizuite™ Office Connector clients and click the icon at the right side.
How it works
Please see this video on how it works:
How to configure it
It simply works out of the box.
The ability to en- and disable the ability to bypass the "required fields" check by multi-selecting
Up until now, there has not been a check for determining whether there were required fields while uploading or editing multiple assets' metadata. This meant, that by simply selecting multiple assets, you'd be able to circumvent the check that made certain that some fields would already be filled out upon editing and uploading.
In this version of the DC there's been added a new config variable: 'VALIDATE_REQUIRED_WHEN_MULTISELECTING'. This has been introduced to enable or disable the previously mentioned check. It will be enabled by default after an update to DC 4.7.0.
How to access it
When VALIDATE_REQUIRED_WHEN_MULTISELECTING is set to "1" - and more than one asset is selected while editing metadata - the required check will be performed as it normally would when editing one asset.
How it works
If no input has been given, the UI will show both an asterisk and a red border around the input field. See the image below.
If the field is valid, it'll look like this:
How to configure it
Go to System tools → Digizuite configuration and find VALIDATE_REQUIRED_WHEN_MULTISELECTING in the list. Set it to 1 to enable the feature and 0 to disable it. When disabling the feature functionality will be as pre-4.7.0, meaning that the required fields yet again will not be required when multi-selecting.
