The check box with label "Use Solr" determines whether a search uses Solr. Solr is a non-SQL database, which is used to cache search results.

If a search is set to use Solr (or has free text Filters), then it MUST be populated after it has been saved:

  1. Save the search
  2. Wait for the response, that the search was saved successfully
  3. Wait for the list of searches to reload
  4. Click the "cog wheel"
  5. Affirm that you want to populate the search. This creates a Job, which populates the Solr database.
  6. Notice that a new Job is "waiting".
  7. Wait for the Job to complete.
  8. Refresh the Search Editor to ensure that the "cog-wheel" is no longer present.
