This release was created to have an alternative of using the DigiUpload Air. This release contains only one change (a new feature):
- There is now an "upload only" interface available in the DAM Center.
How to access/use the new implementation?
New upload interface
This interface is only available for users that have the "Upload_Only" role. When the member logs in, the system will check for the presence of this role. If it exists, that member will be shown the limited "upload only" interface instead of the regular DAM Center interface.
Note: You will still have the possibility of showing or hiding the "Install DigiUpload Air" button (for any other user, but the one with the "Upload_Only" role). In order to hide it from the user, navigate to System tools → Users and groups → Users and select the desired user. In the right panel, make sure that the "Show Install Digizuite DigiUpload" is unchecked.
How the new implementation works
New upload interface
The interface consists of two parts: the header at the top and the upload component filling the rest of the space.
- The header looks like the one in the DAM Center, but with all functionality removed except the "Logout" menu item.
- The upload component is also just like the one in the DAM Center, the only difference being that there is no way to directly control in which Catalog folder the uploaded assets will be placed in. This should be controlled by configured workflows instead.
How to configure the new implementation?
New upload interface
In order to enable this new interface for selected members, all you have to do is assign them the new "Upload_Only" role.
DOs
- Add the "Upload_Only" role to the members that need limited access.
DON'Ts
- Use members that does not belong to the "Contributor"-group. You will be met with the "Insufficient rights" message when logging in as opposed to the new upload interface.
- Double-check the selected members. (!!!) You won't be able to use those members to log in to the DAM Center again (database access is needed to revert the changes).
What has been released?
What is in the next release?
The next release is thought to contain bug fixes related mainly to the DFS5 project. Some of the fixes that are worth mentioning:
- A new installer to support DFS5 installation - you will be able to select whether you want to install DFS4 or DFS5
- Could not create wizards
- There is going to be a default preview for the assets that does not have a thumbnail, to support DFS5
- Out of the box, you cannot select "Login required" from the first time - right now you have to "play" a bit with that field
- When creating metadata only assets, the the asset type name is not shown
- And many more...
