3 Publishing - DAM v4.6.1

Publishing assets is just as easy as importing and archiving asset in the Digizuite™ DAM Center. Publishing is the final step required for an asset to be publicly shared.

Note: The process of publishing assets is usually driven by metadata with the help of workflows.

In the left menu of the Digizuite™ DAM Center, you can find the Channels area. The area specifies the content that is currently being displayed outside the Digizuite™ DAM Center on an end product, e.g. a personal or corporate website, an image gallery or a standard product such as the Digizuite™ Media Manager or Microsoft Office Connector.

Each folder in the Channels menu is equal to a separate end product or destination. There is no limit to how many destinations a Digizuite™ DAM Center can be paired with.

To publish an asset, select the asset from the Catalog and place it in the folder of the desired destination using drag and-drop.

When dropped, a reference to the asset is put in the folder. This immediately initiates the export.

When publishing is complete the asset will appear inside the selected channel and will be marked with a green tick. This indicates that the published asset now is available at the desired end product.

If an asset should be available on more than one product, simply redo previous steps and publish it from the Catalog to another end product. A source asset can be published on as many products as needed.

Note: Assets placed in any of the folders available inside the Channels menu, is an asset referenced to a source asset in the catalog. When deleting a referenced asset from a folder, only the reference is deleted (and the asset is no longer publicly available). The source asset is kept safe in the catalog and asset references may be recreated as many times as needed.

Note: Deleting an asset from the Catalog area deletes the source asset along with any asset references in the Channels menu and also removes the asset from the Digizuite™ DAM Center.
That's all the required information you need to get started with the Digizuite™ DAM Center. For more advanced features such as metadata editing, creating users and user groups, and Asset Security Management, please see sections below or the Digizuite™ DAM Center Documentation.
