In the DAM for Episerver it is possible to crop the images from the asset pool without having to use external tools.
The editor can access the croping tool in two different ways:
- by selecting "Crops" from the context menu next to an asset,
- by clicking the "Crop" button in the focused preview.
The crop formats in the DAM for Episerver are based on aspect ratios. The default aspect ratios are: square (1:1), standard photo (3:2), widescreen (16:9) and banner (4:1). More crops can be configured in the DAM Center.
In order to initiate the cropping mode, the editor needs to click on the image. This will prompt the appearance of the help lines. They can now be dragged around until the correct set of crops based on the common focal point is created. It also possible to create a set of crops with different focal points by clicking the different Aspect Ratios on the right and then adjusting the crop individually. The editor can also uncheck the crops that are not needed.
When satisfied with the results, clicking "Create Crops" will initiate the process. The crops are created right away but it might take a moment before they are visible in the system, which is reflected in the received notification.
All the crops related to an asset are visible in two different places:
- under the asset in the asset list, once the editor clicks on it once,
- in the focused preview, at the bottom of the page.
