The MSI Digizuite DAM Center installer requires that there are no other Digizuite products installed on the server before starting the installation process.

1.1 Web server

  • A Windows 2012 R2 Server or a (4.7.1 additionally supports Windows 2016 Server)

  • Run windows update on the machine to ensure everything is up to date.

When done adding these, press Next and then Install.

1.2 Database server

  • A Windows 2008 R2 Server or, a Windows 2012 R2 Server or a (4.7.1 additionally supports Windows 2016 Server)
  • Minimum 4 GB RAM
  • Minimum 16 GB hard disk space
  • Access to the SQL server with administrative rights (usually sa user)
  • A Microsoft SQL Server 20122014, or a Microsoft SQL Server 2014 or a Microsoft SQL Server 20162016 (Must not be an Express Edition)

1.3 Storage

  • A Windows 2008 2012 R2 Server or Server or a Windows 2012 R2 2016 Server
  • Shared UNC / CIFS storage area (From now on referred to with the variable #assetstorage#Without this, the batch server will not be able to access the backend files)
  • Minimum 16GB 16 GB hard disk space
  • Minimum 7GB 7 GB RAM memory
  • Typically you place this on the web server, if you do not have a dedicated storage area already. It's imperative that you share this folder as defined in step 1.6.
  • Best practice is to place the folder directly on the drive (e.g.
4 DigiBatch
  • C:, D: and so on) and name it "Storage"

1.4 Batch server

  • A Windows 2008 2012 R2 Server or Server or a Windows 2012 R2 2016 Server
  • Access to the server with administrative rights
  • Minimum 16 GB hard disk space
  • ASP.NET 4.6.2 framework

1.5 Client

We will make an effort to ensure compatibility with modern browser behavior, but can only guarantee full support for the following browsers and versions:

  • Windows
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer (11.1198.14393.0)
    • Mozilla Firefox (53.0.2)
    • Google Chrome (58.0.3029.110 (64-bit))
  • Mac OS

1.6 Domain users

The Digizuite™ setup needs two domain users. Both users must be system-users, meaning that their passwords must never expire. If it is not possible to create domain users, then create local users with same names and same passwords across the WEB server, the BATCH server and the STORAGE server.
  • For the Digizuite™ DAM Center to function correctly, you need to create two users: "assetstream" and "digibatch". Both users' passwords must never expire.
  • It is recommended to create them as domain users, however this is not a necessity. If you do not create a them as domain users, you have to create the users with the same passwords across all servers.
  • Their usernames must not include characters that break XML syntax (i.e. ",',<,>,&).
  • Storage stream user (Installer defaults to username assetstream)
    • Read file/share access to everything on storage
    • Write file/share rights to the folders (exists after completion of the installation):
      • Example: #assetstorage#\DMM\Upload
      • Example: #assetstorage#\DMM\FtpUpload
  • System user (Installer defaults to username "digibatch")
    • Full file/share access to the storage 
      • Example: #assetstorage#
    • Must be able to start Windows services on the WEB server and the BATCH server
    • Must be a part of the group: "Performance Monitor Users"
    • Must be local administrator
Note: #assetstorage# refers to either the local storage (Example: D:\Storage) or to an UNC path if this is a multiple server installation (Example: \\<servername>\<share>)
  • In step 1.3 you've created a folder that you'll use for storage. This folder you give the digibatch user complete read/write access to, and the assetstream user you only give complete read access to (you will need to extend the assetstream user rights later in the process - ref. the next point).
  • After the installation, you have to go back to this folder, and give the assetstream user write access to the following folders:
    • ...\DMM\Upload
    • ...\DMM\FtpUpload
  • After this you must add the following groups to the digibatch user:
    • Administrators (Without it the installer may very likely fail)
    • Performance Monitor Users (Without it the installer will not fail, but certain asset conversion jobs will)
    • (Optional) Remote Desktop Users (so you can login with the digibatch user)

      To add the users to groups, do the following steps

      1. Open the program Computer Management

      2. Expand Local Users and Groups and select Groups.

      3. Right click the groups and press Properties

      4. Press Add, and type in the username digibatch

      5. Press Check Names and then OK, and OK again

      6. Repeat for the other group as well.


1.7 DNS lookup

To perform the Digizuite™ installation and have the Digizuite™ ready for operation, you need to determine any of the URLs below required for your specific setup AND create DAM Center installation you need to have defined and created the necessary DNS records:
