Lock functionality
Once an asset is opened in Word/Excel/PowerPoint and the user is logged in in the Office Connector, the asset becomes locked for other users. It means that other users can open the same document, make their own changes to it and save it as a new asset, but they cannot replace the old asset. Only the user who has locked the asset has the ability to that.
The locked documents are marked with an "eye" icon.
Given the correct role, some users have the ability to force-unlock the documents. If another user force-unlocks the asset, the original user will lose the ability to replace the current asset. If this happens, the user is presented with the following message:
2.5.3 Saving the asset to Digizuite™ Media Manager 5

- If the user selects "Existing Asset", the old document will be replaced with the revised document (the asset cannot be locked by another user).
- If the user selects "New Asset", the old document will be preserved and the document with the revisions applied to it will be saved as a new asset.
More information about the relationship between Media Manager 5 and Office Connector is available here.
