The user can upload any assets from the local source by selecting Upload from disk. This will bring forth the upload dialog box. After finding and selecting the files, clicking Open will start the upload process.

Link Manager (InDesign only)

All the DAM assets used in InDesign documents are linked, and their overview can be seen in the Links panel. Up-to-date links are displayed as a blue icon attached to the image on the page.

  • a checkmark icon indicates that the link is both locally linked and DAM linked, i.e. everything is working correctly

  • a link icon indicates that the link is broken, which means that the local path on the user’s computer cannot be found, which can be fixed by simply relinking the link, as the asset had already been uploaded to the DAM

  • a download an upload icon indicates that the link is a local asset that can be uploaded to the DAM

  • a warning icon indicates that the link cannot be found from the local path on the user’s computer. This means that in order to fix this, the user needs to manually find the asset and replace it in InDesign document in order to achieve the download status.

    2. Select all assets which have broken links

Dependent on the state of the assets used in the active document different options become available to the user .

In this case and the buttons change based on which status the selected asset(s) is/are in.

The three possible buttons that can be displayed are:

  1. Relink

  2. Upload

  3. Change quality.

Each button displays the number of assets that can be handled by the specific button.

Here are some examples of how the Link Manager page might look like dependent on the circumstances:

  • In the case below, all elements in the table have been selected where each of the 4 possible status states are displayed.

Relinking broken links can be done in 2 waystwo ways, i.e. by:

  • Manually selecting the assets with the broken links icon

  • Using the dropdown to select all the assets that have broken links.

When one of the options have has been selected, then the relink button can be clicked

When the asset(s) with a(n) broken link(s) assets with broken links have been fixed, a dialog will prompt you the user that the content have has been downloaded and relinked.

Uploading an asset

Uploading a(n) asset(s) assets can be done in 2 waystwo ways, i.e. by:

  • Manually selecting the assets with the upload icon

  • Using the dropdown to select all the assets that are local assets.

When one of the options have has been selected then , the upload button can be clicked Upload button becomes available.

If the InDesign document is not saved before pressing clicking the upload Upload button a , the following dialog will be promptedappear:

2 Two cases can occur when uploading a asset to the DAM:

  1. The asset does not already exist in the DAM and it will be uploaded to the DAM Center

  2. The asset already exists in the DAM Center exist in the DAM and a dialog concerning duplicates will be prompted

The duplicates dialog contains the following elements:

  • The current asset you were trying the user tried to upload with the image thumbnail of the asset and the file path

  • All the duplicates which are already in the DAM

  • Button to chose choose the action for the specific asset

  • The amount number of asset that you were trying the user tried to upload, which exist in the DAM.

The user has two options when clicking the Choose action button:

  1. Upload as a new asset

  2. Relink existing asset.

If you want the user wants to upload the asset as a new asset in the DAM, click the Upload as a new asset button should be selected.

The next step is to click Next in order to handle the next asset in the queue.

If you want the user wants to relink the current asset with a asset in the DAM, you can click the Relink existing asset button should be selected.

Then you can choose which duplicate asset that you want to relink with.
