- The lock, indicates wether the asset is cheked in or out. The green un-lock icon means the file is not checked out, and you can click the icon to check is out.
The asset overview shows you a maximum of 12 assets per page/quiery.

Pressing the "Use" button beneath the thumbnail and selecting a quality, you can insert the asset into your open document.
The lock button indicates wether the assets is checked out or not. If it is chedked out by another user, then you can hover the lock icon and see how has the asset checked out.
To go back to asset overview, simply click on the arrow in the top left corner.
